Obedience Training - Manners When your pup misbehaves it is the most annoying time for you and this mainly happens due to the lack of obedience training for your dog. A dog which is not trained can become really wild and start thinking that it has no master and is free to do anything it wants. Most of the time when your dog misbehaves it is not a calculated action but it is a result of lack of guidance. It is very easy to train dogs to behave themselves and follow the rules you set for them. The most common and an annoying habit of a dog is when it begs. The most common reason for its begging is “you”. People do not realize that a dog that begs constantly gets to eat much more than it should and suddenly becomes overweight to the extent that it has to be put on a diet. It is difficult for the dog and the owner to go through a diet. The reason for the dog’s begging is the dog started begging as a puppy and thinks it is the right thing to do. Because it is so used to people feeding it while they are eating, the dog begs from the owner and the guests. The more the merrier! Some dogs even jump on the table because they are pampered by their owners. Some annoying “dog manners” that gets worse with time, if it is not corrected.
Correcting your dogs manners Start training your puppy from day one. Manners are best learn when it is still a pup and even experts agree that training a pup is a lot easier than training an older dog. Keep your dog in a different room when you are eating and when it barks or seeks your attention walk up to it and ask your dog to sit down and stay quiet. Praise your dog for staying quiet. Do not give it any food from your plate as a reward. Try to keep your dog outside the house or in a different room while you are inside. Start keeping your dog in another room before you sit at your table. You will also want your dog to stay in another room when you have visitors or guests. Praise your dog after your guests leave. Manners are extremely important for every dog. No matter how much one loves their dog, if their dog begs at parties or misbehaves while entertaining guests, it gets a bit too annoying. There is no way for obedience training the dog not to drool or beg so the best remedy is to cut the habit of begging and control the temptation for the dog. |
