Dog Training - Flatulence When you get "wind" of this problem as you are doing your dog toilet training, look for at least two reasons for this. Rule out anything medically wrong, by making a trip to the Vet. If things are fine, then look to your food. Grab the bag and read the label. You will be shocked to find out what is actually in some dog foods. No wonder your dog not only has flatulence, but accidents during dog toilet training. Some breeds of dogs, such as German Shepherds have notoriously bad stomachs, and you have to be careful what you feed them. Here's a quick lesson in what NOT to feed your dog, and why it's crucial you read the label and get clued in as to what you're really feeding. Your dog is a carnivore ... that means eats meat to survive. Do research on the Internet if you doubt that. You feed carnivores protein, not grains right? "Well YEAH!" you're thinking. Now go read the label on your dog food bag(s). Most of them, unless they are holistic or higher end foods, are made mostly of grains. Can dogs eat grains and survive? Yes, but not that well, and they usually have nutritional deficiencies, flatulence, the runs, rough coats, spontaneous vomiting, discolored teeth, burps like nobody's business, excessive shedding and ... well, you get the picture. Now go read the label of a higher end dog food, or one that offers holistic nutrition and see the differences. Let's just take one example here so you know what we're talking about.
