Dog Obedience - Dog Training Book

For people who are first time owners of a dog, disciplining it can be a daunting task. By taking the guidance of a dog trainer you can probably achieve more. If you cannot afford a trainer for your pet then the best thing to do is get a good book on dog training. A good book is the best guide to teach and train your pet on dog obedience.

What should you look for in a book about dog training? There are several books available in the book stores and some are basic while others are very advanced. However spending some time to buy the book pays of big time. Many books have a lot of advice to train your pet but only some work in the end. It all depends on the psyche of your dog to listen or not. The dog does not care much about the book or what has been written in it and all it does is care about you for sure. So you have to make use of the dog’s trust in you to train it. So a good book will teach you how to make use of this trust and the love your dog has got for you for training it.

A good book will also tell you that it is very important to reward your dog at the end of every session. It would also have listed many methods to reward your dog and the best way to do it is either raise your dog or give it a bone every once in a while. Dogs are a man’s best companion and yet are very complicated to understand. Your dog for sure does love you a lot and while training your dog you should be able to communicate with it.

There are many ways and methods to communicate with your dog like using some specific commands a dog would understand. Make it simple by using words like NO, yes, heel, sit and stand. The book should also give a list of words and commands that are commonly used with dogs and how to train them using these commands.

When you get a puppy home and take it out for a walk you will notice that the puppy is pulling on its leash and at that it time it may look very cute to watch your puppy do that. However if this habit is not checked it can continue and one day your puppy will turn into a full grown dog that still continues to pull and that is when you realize what a nuisance it is and also it is the most difficult time to train your dog. Dog obedience starts early and as soon as you get the puppy home. Teach your pup that rules are a part of its life from day one and if you depend on a book for doing it then stick to the rules and do as the book says. Also before getting a book try to get a book that has been written by a dog trainer or an expert who ahs dealt with many dogs. Do not opt for something that looks too complicated.
